Fall 2010 Adult Leader Backpack Awareness Course

The purpose of the Fall 2010 Adult Leader Backpack Awareness Course is to inform adults on how to plan, organize, safely lead and successfully complete High Adventure backcountry treks and other outings.
Prerequisites to attend include completion of Youth Protection Training. Completion of Cub or Scout Adult Leader Training is strongly recommended. Download Adult High Adventure Physical Form and turn in Friday night at the Course.
The course is limited to 60 participants based on the order of payment received by the Orange County Council. The Backpack Awareness Course “Early Bird” fee is $45. After Friday, September 17, the regular course fee is $55. We cannot guarantee that you will be admitted to the course if you sign up after the "Early Bird" registration, please submit you application in a timely matter.
Written notice of cancellation is required at least two weeks prior to the beginning of the course. Refunds are subject to a 15% cancellation fee. The fee covers lunch on Saturday, all handouts and course materials, a hat and a patch upon completion of all lectures. A training segment and wallet certificate will be issued upon completion of the outing and passing a written examination.
Training will take place at the Orange County BSA Council Training Room located at 1211 East Dyer Road in Santa Ana.
