“SERVE MORE YOUTH THROUGH A QUALITY PROGRAM” The mission of the Boy Scouts of America is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Scout Law. Scouting builds the leaders of the future. In order to having this impact on the youth of our community we need to recruit youth to join Cub Scouts.
The Boy Scouts of America has been able to prepare the youth to become future leaders by offering quality programs and teaching life skills guided by the Scout Oath and Law. It is in continuing this legacy of scouting which will provide the youth of the future the opportunity to learn these values. We can achieve another 100 years of scouting history by focusing on two (2) key components of Scouting; Growth and Retention.
Growth of an organization is important to insure longevity. There is strength in numbers, and it is in growing our Units and reaching out to the youth that will give the Unit, District, and Council strength to continue the Scouting legacy. We put our focus on growing our units two (2) times a year; Spring and Fall. The focus on Recruitment of new members for the Cub Scout Units and transitioning Webelos to Boy Scouts will ensure growth of our units.
Retention is about keeping the youth in the Scouting organization. Often we find competition for our youth with sports, school activities, employment and relationships. In order to keep the youth involved in the Unit, we need deliver on the Scouting Promise – quality programs for the youth to enjoy and learn from.
